RULES

The following rules must be observed by all participants

  • Helmets must be worn at all times during the race
  • Race numbers must be clearly visible on bike handlebars at all times
  • The only bikes permitted for use are 26”, 27.5” and 29er mountain bikes in good working condition
  • All bikes used must be driven by human power only
  • Littering of the countryside is forbidden in any form
  • It is not permitted to change bikes during the competition
  • Participants must pass through all the check points on the course
  • The time limit for the 36 km (2 laps) and 54 km (3 laps) races is 4 and 6 hours, respectively; for the 54 km (3 laps) race, participants must begin their 3rd and final lap within 3 and a half hours of the start of the race (after this time participants will not be allowed to continue as part of the race)
  • Officially licensed Elite and Junior cyclists (registered with the Romanian Cycling Federation or international equivalent and registered in the past 2 years), may only participate in the 54 km (3 laps) race
  • The course markings will consist of the following: BikeXpert plastic strips; red arrows to indicate a change of direction; and an “X” symbol to indicate wrong direction
  • Participants must observe the normal traffic rules, e.g. on the short sections of asphalt that form part of the race route
  • Children can only race with the written permission of their parents/guardians
  • You must present the affidavit at the Race Office
  • In the event of failure to start the race, disqualification or abandonment of the race, the participation fee will not be refunded
  • Participants must display sporting behaviour towards fellow riders and the organisers/volunteers at all times
  • The organizer reserves the right to change this regulation up to 1 hour before the Start

Failure to observe any of the above rules will lead to disqualification from Maratonul Vinului.

We recommend participants carry with them the following:

  • At least 2 spare inner tubes, pump, patches, tools, etc.
  • One or more (filled) water bottles
  • Cycling sunglasses
  • Sun cream
  • Mobile phone (in case of emergency or abandonment)
